Meg Barnes: Meg Barnes is a working parent and community member running for the Eureka School Board because she cares deeply about the safety, strength, and future of Eureka’s schools.

She is focused on attracting and retaining great teachers and ensuring every child has the resources they need to succeed—academically, socially, and emotionally.

Libby District 4 Current Candidates
Alida Snow: I began my involvement in Libby schools through the Libby Elementary School Parent Council, motivated by a desire to be more engaged and help the school continue to move forward. What started as a simple commitment to support students and staff grew into a long-term dedication to educational leadership. I have now served on the school board for nine years, where I continue to advocate for students, families, and the overall success of our schools. I also have a profession that keeps me in regular communication with the community, allowing me to listen, connect, and stay informed about local needs and concerns. ln addition to my work in Libby schools, I am actively involved in several volunteer groups throughout the community, reflecting my ongoing commitment to service and positive community growth.

I am running for the school board position because I believe a quality education is the foundation for the success of our community and beyond. We need quality buildings, teachers, and staff as well as the right mindset presented to our children. Our children need to learn how to think and not just know how to pass a test. As a tax payer, I feel we need to make the best use of our funds to provide the spaces and opportunities to excel and thrive as individuals and in a community or corporate setting. Libby has much to be proud of and we can make the school system be the best!

Lee Eggebroten: Raised in the wide expanse of rural Alaska, I began my education as a homeschooled student, learning to approach challenges with independence and curiosity. My academic path later took me to a public high school in Wyoming, where I gained a broader perspective on community, opportunity, and the role teachers and education plays in shaping a young person’s future.

Troy District 1 Current Candidates

Lori Damon: My name is Lori Damon and I am running for the Troy school board because I want to continue working with our Board and the administration to provide quality education for the students of Troy.

I have enjoyed serving on the school board since 2017 and previously served for 12 years when our children were in school. I have lived in Montana for 50 years and have lived in Troy for 40 of those years. Our two children and one grandchild attended and graduated from the Troy school district. Currently I work part-time for the local credit union and enjoy activities such as gardening, hiking, reading, and spending time with family.

I believe that providing a well-rounded, quality education involves more than just academics. It involves providing education opportunities in the arts and crafts, the industrial arts, athletics, and even travel opportunities. It prepares the student to be a lifelong learner.

I am proud of the dedication and commitment of all of the staff and administration who continue to provide an outstanding education and supplemental resources for our students, especially with the diminishing funding they have to work with.  We have had very good success offering students career and technical education opportunities, internships and college credits to prepare them for college and careers. Graduation rates are also amazing at 92% last year and 100% this year!

I am truly thankful to have the opportunity to serve our community as a school board trustee, and I will continue to work to provide a safe and well-rounded learning environment for all students.

Chelsea Franke (write-in): My name is Chelsea Franke, and I am running for School Board Trustee for Troy Public Schools, District 1. My family and I moved to Troy in 2022 when we returned to my husband’s family homestead in the Yaak. I am a fifth-generation Montanan who grew up in Great Falls and deeply values the strength and spirit of rural communities.

I will graduate in May from the University of Montana with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. Through my professional and academic experiences, I have developed strong skills in operational analysis, fiscal and budget review, and collaborative problem-solving—skills that support thoughtful decision-making and responsible stewardship of public resources.

Our daughter will begin attending Troy Public Schools this fall, which makes this opportunity especially meaningful to me as both a parent and community member. I care deeply about this community and would be honored for the opportunity to support our teachers, students, and families while helping ensure Troy’s schools continue to provide a strong foundation for our children’s future.

SENATE DISTRICT 1 – DEMOCRATIC

Jonathan Russell Jameson: Hello reader, I hope you are doing well. Like most, my path hasn’t been easy. My family has been farmers from generation to generation until my grandpa George (Jim) Jameson became a drywaller. He was followed by my father Ralph who was also  a drywaller and the first to graduate from High School (LHS-81). I am the second to graduate High School, but I did not stop there, I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Geology from Central Washington University. While in school I worked in a restaurant as a busser, host, waiter, and day bartender to pay for school.

After I received my degree, I went straight into the oil field and worked as an onsite geologist. In 17 years of oil field work I have leveraged my skill set to work from home doing remote geosteering. This wasn’t by accident or given to me, I had to make a lot of hard decisions and stand up for myself and my abilities. One thing that propelled me was my goal to be the best at what I do and to care about the work I do.

After my son was born I moved my family to Lincoln County in 2017 because I always saw this as the best place on earth and I wanted to follow in my grandparents’ footsteps. As my family started assimilating into the community, we started seeing the cracks in the system and we have been doing everything we can to make a difference within the community.

I am spiritual and I accept Jesus in my heart; we attend United Methodist Church on Sunday mornings.

I’m running in this race to bring the ideas we all have to the table and create action to get things accomplished by working together.

STATE REPRESENTATIVE HOUSE DISTRICT 1 – REPUBLICAN

Michelle Bianco: President of the Republican Women’s Club for Lincoln County and the District 1 Director for the MT Federation of Republican Women. Michelle has been a proven fighter for Lincoln County. She started the group Citizens for Protecting Lincoln County and started raising awareness about fire danger, homeowners’ insurance, and property taxes. Michelle and Tom have been married 34 years with two children. She is an educator and small business owner. Her husband is an Army Veteran. Together, they raise horses in Fortine. Michelle comes from a ranching family with historic roots in Montana. Her mother was a tough as nails horseshoer, and they raised cattle and hay. Her great-grandfather wrote a book featured in the Montana Heritage Center about the family’s early life in Butte and their role in the early days of mining.

“Lincoln County is the last best place on Earth, and I will fight to make sure Lincoln County is heard. Bureaucrats and environmental extremists have taken away our jobs, threatened our homes, and cost the taxpayers millions of dollars. I’ll bring common sense to Helena, fight for policies that put Lincoln County first, fight for a fair court system that listens to the residents of Lincoln County, and not just out-of-state lawyers. There is a battle happening here in Lincoln County, and I plan on defending our way of life. I’m running to bring back mining, revive logging, and stop the property tax hikes that are crushing rural Montana families. As your candidate, I back the blue each and every day and will work to secure our Northern border and to stop drugs, gangs, and crime from flooding into Lincoln County. We need a proven fighter with results, and we need action now. That’s why I’m running.”
