Current Elections Information Dates

  • Monday, October 5, 2026 at 5 PM: Close of regular voter registration. (Registration forms postmarked by this date and
    received within 3 days are accepted for regular registration.)

  • Monday, October 5, 2026 at 8 AM: Start of in-person absentee ballot voting at the Election Office at 418 Mineral Ave., Libby, MT 59923. Hours of operation are 8 AM – 5 PM Monday-Friday.

  • Beginning Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 8 AM: Late Registration Begins. Those wishing to register or change their voter information and vote in this federal election may do so before 8 p.m. on election day. To vote in the election, late registrants must obtain their ballot in person from the Election Office at 418 Mineral Ave., Libby, MT 59923. Hours of operation are 8 AM – 5 PM Monday-Friday.

  • Thursday, October 8: Registration forms postmarked by October 5 and received by this date are accepted for regular registration.

  • Friday, October 9: Absentee ballots mailed by Election Office to voters who have requested them.

  • Friday, October 9 at 8 AM: Absentee Ballot Secure Ballot Vaults (formerly called ballot drop boxes) open. View Polling & Drop-Off – Lincoln County Montana Elections for location information in Libby, Eureka, and Troy.

  • Monday, November 2 at 5 PM: Secure Ballot Vaults (formerly called ballot drop boxes) closed. Voters needing to return ballots after this time should return them to the Election Office in Libby OR to ANY polling location between 7 AM and 8 PM on Election Day. Absentee ballots must be received by 8 PM on Election Day. The Election Office advises voters to not mail absentee ballots within one week of the election, as they may not make it to the Election Office by the 8 PM November 3 deadline.

  • Tuesday, November 3 at 7 AM: Polls open for in-person voting.

  • Tuesday, November 3 at 8 PM: Polls close.

  • Tuesday, November 3 at 8 PM: Deadline for receipt of UOCAVA ballots.
